I was looking on the MoE site and their programme sounds really interesting, but looking at what some of you are saying, the salary they're offering ($2,900 max without teaching qualifications) seems ridiculously low.
Not that I'm a big spender or anything, but even a shared accommodation will take a huge chunk of that away. I suppose such an offer really goes to those who really want the experience and have no desire for life's little luxuries (that, or they're aiming for locals who are still living with their parents).
Does anyone here know of anyone doing the MoE programme?
What are your options regarding MoE Singapore? |

All teaching salaries are low in Singapore, but in your case it is preposteriously low.
By the time you pay rent, transport costs, meals, electricity and other utilities there will be very little left to buy food for breakfast. This does not mention having spare cash to go somewhere on days off.
Go back to university and do a B.Ed., then get a "real" teaching job for 5 years in your own country then travel the world. |

I didn't realise that the MoE took on foreign teachers who didn't have BEd/PGCE/Grad Dip Ed type of thing.
But even if you have one, seems like you have to have bags of experience to get a decent wage outa the Moe, is that correct?
The only concrete figure on the site is $2800 for newly qualified teachers. There's no pay scale stating what they pay anyone who's got any experience.
Does anyone have any idea?
Thanks |
