My husband and I will be teaching in Pachuca and will bring home, after taxes around 1700usd. Housing is paid for by the school as well as visa costs. We do have to pay utilities and such. Do you think we are going to be just scraping by, or is this a decent income for a family of 4. I know "cost of living" varies on what one considers "living"... I am really just talking about the basics. Food, utilities, transportation (we will have to take a taxi to and from work).
Thoughts?
Thanks!

I can't imagine that won't be enough, especially if you'll be cooking at home and not living it up too much!
Have fun!

Private schools for your kids- if you find you need them- could make this budget tight: my friends pay about 4000 pesos per month for each of their kids in private schools

Teachers usually get free, or substantially reduced tuition fees for their children. I believe I read previously that this was the case in this situation.
