-I went to HK a few months ago for the test and interview and passed. Now I have to wait to be picked up by a school. Training starts August 16th, which is less than a month away! I just heard from them and they said they're still placing teachers. Is it true? Do I still have a chance of being hired? PNETs, how soon before the start of training did you get hired? I wonder if they even have time to process my work visa. Thanks!

Don't lose hope yet - the PNET and NET recruitment process is notoriously fickle. Many recruits are placed in late July and well into August. Most incumbent NETs are already on leave (including my wife) - that's why there isn't much feedback on the forum at the mo. Hang in there.

What is this "training" that you mention?

The EdB does hold an indocrination session for new NETs, 2 or 3 days in length, which is held early in the first term.

Some NETs find it useful.

The work visa usually seems to take 3 weeks or so to be issued, but it can be expedited if your principal pulls a few strings.

Arrow Arrow The next 2 weeks should be considered "make-or-break" time if you haven't secured a position yet. Most PNETs report back to school during the week ending 27 Aug.

good luck.
