-I went to HK a few months ago for the test and interview and passed. Now I have to wait to be picked up by a school. Training starts August 16th, which is less than a month away! I just heard from them and they said they're still placing teachers. Is it true? Do I still have a chance of being hired? PNETs, how soon before the start of training did you get hired? I wonder if they even have time to process my work visa. Thanks! |

Don't lose hope yet - the PNET and NET recruitment process is notoriously fickle. Many recruits are placed in late July and well into August. Most incumbent NETs are already on leave (including my wife) - that's why there isn't much feedback on the forum at the mo. Hang in there. |

What is this "training" that you mention?
The EdB does hold an indocrination session for new NETs, 2 or 3 days in length, which is held early in the first term.
Some NETs find it useful.
The work visa usually seems to take 3 weeks or so to be issued, but it can be expedited if your principal pulls a few strings.
The next 2 weeks should be considered "make-or-break" time if you haven't secured a position yet. Most PNETs report back to school during the week ending 27 Aug.
good luck. |
