Can it be done in Taiwan? Planning on visiting in January and I'm wondering if the R.O.C will trade Chairman Mao's funny money.

Bank of China here *sometimes* takes TWD and gives RMB, but that depends on the mood of the money-changer that day. I'm not sure about the other way around. Confused

Got a bank account in prc? I think ATMs here now allow you to withdraw money from prc accounts. I am fairly sure banks will take the money. Looks like liberalization began in 2008.

Yes, you can exchange currency in any Bank. Trading of RMB was legalised in 2008 after establishing the cross straits flights.
