Hello.
Does anyone know any good computer guys in Istanbul? I live in Beyoglu near Istiklass and Galatasary High School.
Anyway, I plug in my PC, I turn it on, and I get nothing. I bought it all a few weeks ago in the US - every part all new. I have a suspicion it is the powersupply but I know it is dual voltage and nothing sparked or burned or anything when I turned it on. I opened it up and saw that when I flip it on the fans rev for like half a second and then turn on. My monitor will also display its logo for half a second then go dark again after i hit the power. Nothing seems loose or out of place in the case but I dont want to mess around in there too much.
I just moved to Turkey 2 days ago so I am rather ignorant of almost everything. I speak practically zero Turkish yet so this is doubly difficult.
Anyone willing to help or know anyone who can? Ideally someone who can come over here to do it but if necessary I'd bring it out. Near me there is a Darty store which sells electronics but I dont think they do repairs. I'd be willing to pay some tech geek to help me out instead of a real store even.
For the record my PC is:
Power Supply: PSU CORSAIR|CMPSU-550VX 550W RT
CPU: Intel I7 Quad core 2.66 gig
MOBO: MB MSI|P55M-GD41 P55 RT
4 gigs of RAM and a really nice graphics card I wish I could use. |

You did use a current converter when you plugged in, didn't you? plugging a US pc straight into a turkish socket will blow something if you didn't.
As for getting help, go to a normal neighbourhood, try Ortakoy, walk up the street, look a for a pc repair shop. Istanbul is full of IT technicians, ask students, but they aren't necessarily to be found in tourist areas like Beyolgu. |
