Well, after waiting for about 2 months, the Commision eventually sent the offer and asked me to send some additional documents together with the signed offer, which I already did. Do you think that means another long waiting or things are quicker on this stage? I am sure lots of people have gone through this. Anybody from Jubail University College? |

Two months is good if that's how long it takes for them to get back to you. I waited more than 12 weeks for an offer. What took the biscuit was that after having been kept waiting for so long the college's HR department wanted a yes or no answer within 72 hours from the time the offer was sent.
I know a couple of guys from the ELC who are fully aware of JIC admin's record of poor efficiency and applicant-friendliness. |

Congratulations! Your 2 months wait is rather quick. Normally getting staff here is notoriously lengthy, 3 to 5 months sometimes a year or more.
In the interview, we say to the candidate it will be a 6-12 weeks, best case scenario. After that, files get lost, visas get held up, RC recruiting staff get bogged down or out right lazy and an application can get literally get lost in red tape till it finally emerges months later if at all.
This is because staff at JUC, JIC or JTI even at any of the Royal Commissions many schools and colleges are not to blame for delays. We are all employees of the Royal Commission not the Jubail University College which is but one of many institutes that the Royal Commission administers and NOT responsible for job offers.
One of the RC's admin jobs includes recruitment. The RC sends out the offers of employment based on a post interview recommendation from the concerned institute (s) and does the employing process. Candidates we interview and recommend arrive to us months later without notice and often their arrival has taken us completely by surprise.
The RC recruitment business in this huge, impersonal house on the hill organization is manned wholly by Saudis. Employees there care little about us or even you. Each one is a cog on the conveyer belt recruitment belt process. They couldnt give two hoots about you anticipating a job offer, about the waiting around, about your depleting finances, about the uncertainty and finger tapping etc.
You should always expect and factor in long delays in your plans when dealing with most Saudi organizations especially the Royal Commission.
I got my Royal Commission job offer in September but didnt arrive in Jubail finally to take up the place till February the following year. As I suspected no one at the Royal Commission even blinked an eyelid and no one was in the least bit surprised. Probably they were surprised that I had survived the whole process.
Many candidates get fed up with the waiting and take up more immediately available lucrative offers elsewhere. If and when you do get here youll find nice people and will be pleased by the genial and mostly hassle free conditions.
If and when you do manage to get here, welcome to Jubail and the Royal Commission. It is a real achievement but the Royal Commission will NEVER tell you that! |

Mostly-- an important qualifier.
Awesome avatar.
The long, blind process of being hired in Saudi Arabia is good practice for when you get here. Any tendency to become uptight will be exorcised, or it will break you.
I'd never heard of a Royal commission before (but I've only been in Saudi Arabia for a year.) Jubail is a city in which the company I work for, Al Khaleej, has a staff. Can you say if the commission and company work together? I never get to talk to those guys. |

The 'Al Khaleej' Group is a private franchise operation with a history and enough muscle qualifying it to undertake the large SABIC industry training contracts.
The Royal Commission is the administrative body for the Jubail and Yanbu industrial regions. In this role, the RC regulates Al Khaleejs operations in the Jubail area but that is probably where the relationship begins and ends.
If you want to talk with the RC you can just go there. It has an interesting and popular Visitors Centre. Groups come from all over the kingdom. You and your staff at Al Khaleej might consider booking a day where you will be cordially received. |

Congratulations, in my case it took me 4 months to get here after accepting the offer (though mine is a different university) but its just to give you an idea, if you are working somewhere at present then continue till your visa is finalized and you have tickets in hand to fly. It takes longer than expected and its a lengthy process of getting your certificates attested, submit them, etc, etc.
Good luck |
