I'm considering getting an iPad for when I head to Abu Dhabi and the guy at the Apple Store said he was concerned about compatibility. I know I had no trouble with my laptop or with iTunes in Korea but has anyone had any trouble in the UAE? |

Obviously, yer talkin'to a 'merican who's never stepped toe out of Ohio. The only capatbility issue will have is with voltage...and I'm SURE if you look at the specs of yer i-Pad, you've fine 100 (110)v ~ 220 (240)v. You'll be jes' fine...

Wouldn't surprise me if he had never been out of Ohio, but I figured if I was going to spend that much money I was going to err on the side of caution. Now the tricky part will be finding one.
Thanks! |

actually you can't seem to throw a stick and NOT hit someone selling the apple Ipad in Dubai.
I can even pick up one at Carrefour in RAK (I wouldn't recommend it as Carrefour has a horrible reputation with electronics items).
So don't worry about finding one... worry about finding the best deal because they are literally everywhere. |

I believe that she was asking about bringing one with her... not purchasing one there. Electronics are usually cheaper in the US.

You'll have no problem with either in the UAE...but be prepared for outrageous 3G priced from either Du or Itsucksalot. We jailbroke our IPhones, got 3G from Itsucksalot, then cancelled after 3 months because the data plans were costing us over $100 a month each. Free wifi is also hard to find in the UAE. It's a sorry country. I'm looking forward to spending 48 hours there next month to cancel my residency visa enroute to my new gig. |
