|

Is anyone here teaching in a (bacalaureat) school situation? That is, are you teaching classes in an international or national plus (i.e., private) school? I would like to know the amounts of contact hours per day you teach and the total number of hours you are at work.
If you are teaching EFL courses for a private EFL company, like EF and other private courses company, please make this clear. This is because I think private courses usually pay by the teaching hour so the more you teach, the more you earn.
As for me, I am working at a private international school teaching five classes (50 minutes each) daily. I am in the workplace nine hours per day, Monday-Friday. |

If you are employed as a schoolteacher rather than at a language school you really shouldn't have more than 50% contact time. This is because apart from lesson prep and marking there are all the other blights on a teacher's life such as dealing with parents, punishing miscreants and homeroom teacher duties. |

Mon - Friday 40 hour working week. 22 contact hours a week, but often interrupted with camps, excursions and whole school events. |

I'm at a Cambridge school, we do PYP and IGCSEs (I teach lower and middle secondary).
Working hours are 7:30-16:00, hour for lunch. Classes are 7:35-14:55 M-Th and 7:35-13:50 on Friday. I have 21 classes a week, 45 minute classes (3 of those are 40 min classes on Fridays).
In addition to that, we have duties like lunch monitor, etc., after-school activities (1x per week, 1 hour) weekly meeting (1x per week after classes) and Personal Development (Fridays for 2 hours after classes).
I teach 2 subjects to 3 grade levels. |
