I was wondering if anyone has done an MA in Applied Lingusitics or TEFL at a place like UCL, King's or Birkbeck? How has it afffected your career prospects or did you go on to do a PhD? Just looking for general advice, thanks! |

Mine's from the University of Birmingham (England, in case there's any confusion with Alabama ). I think both the study and the uni are considered quite 'decent.' |

Mine's from king's. I guess it's helped me get jobs, but any master's probably would have helped. I'm working at a university now and have been able to work at decent places in the US too. It was a good program but pretty self-motivated. I think it's the type of thing where you get out of it what you put in. |

Ditto Bham. I have a friend who did the same program and thought it was too theoretical, but she chose to write 6 papers on theoretical subjects. Mine were all class-room based, and, for me, the course was a useful bridge from theory to practice. |
