Hey all,
I'd like to get a contract beginning the Feb. semester of next year, hopefully in Chengdu, Shanghai, Harbin, Beijing or Chongqing. I have a BA in English, a TEFOL certificate from (supposedly) a very reputable company. However, I'm worried that jobs and contracts will be scarce by then. Can you confirm this? Or can I still be hopeful that work will be available in those huge cities? I have no preferences as to where I work, with kids or businessmen, etc., at a uni or at a prep school-- I'm willing to go anywhere! Though I'd like airfare and an appartment.

It's possible that some teachers may not return after the Spring Festival. Give the schools your info and wait. |

February is right around the time when second semester begins. Some schools offer one semester contracts and a few people don't renew in which case schools will need to fill those spots. They are not as abundant as in September but there will be a few openings. They generally will begin looking November/December as the paperwork might take awhile to do and administrators want to get all the hiring done before they leave for the one month spring festival in January/February... |
