Dear all,
I have an MA in applied linguistics and a teaching experience of 7 years at secondary and tertiary levels. I have applied for a couple of ESL teaching jobs through hct and adu websites. I`m not sure I may get a job this year and I have no idea about how they hire. I was just wondering that if I drop by with my CV I may get a better chance of beig hired. Human contact, u know.
hoping to hear from you all too soon.
Best regards |

Okay...No, it doesn't work that way in the UAE. For tertiary sector positions, one applies online (as you have done) and then simply waits. Good luck! |

The only way to bypass the online system at HCT is if you know someone... preferably in management. Can't speak for ADU... it is a private university and does its own thing.
That said... make sure that it is clear in your application that you are already in country. Invariably at the beginning of the semester they are short a teacher or two at most places. The bad news is that being there may very well mean that you will get a local hire contract... adjunct... salary, but no benefits. That is fine if you are a spouse with his/her benefit package, but it means that it is a bad deal if you are just passing through and trying to get a job.
