Hi again,

Apologies for ANOTHER thread...I did search but couldn't find much and hey, it's nicer to interact with people innit.

Anyway, am interested in some kind of insurance to cover me when I make the move in Sep...anyone recommend any cheap insurance? Guessing it's best to take out some form of travel insurance? Preferably one that will also include my guitar...

Cheers!

Martyn

You might try the one from Trailfinders: I got a yearly one for 100 pounds last year for multiple trips to cover me on a trip to India. Only thing is, they now tend to severely limit individual items, especially "luxury" items, which conveniently covers just about everything!

You have to be careful though: if an insurance company suspects you are living, rather than travelling in a country they will try and wriggle out of any payments.

Still, you'd easily be covered for a month or so, then you can get local insurance here when you've got an address, bank account and social security number.

Don't forget, everyone is covered here for medical emergencies (even non-Eu peeps), so that's the main worry sorted.

That said, you could always leave your good guitar at home and spend your 100 pounds insurance money on one to mess around with?

Hi Moore,

Thanks - helpful as always!

I just found a quote on Endsleigh for the axe - 20 UK but including 30 days in EU. So could go for that and then go for the local insurance in a month or so as you suggested.

Might go for some sort of year travel thing as chances are i'll be back here in holidays (and if Spain doesn't work out then other travelling).

I have my shiny new EHIC card!
