Anyone ever worked with them before? If so, impressions/advice/suggestions? Thank you! |

Plenty of discussion on daves forum on MediaKids and a few other agencies. Do a search or simply scroll down a bit as a lot of the discussion is relatively recent. Overall, a decent place to start for someone with little experience OR someone looking for a short term placement (4-5 months). They have almost no placements in Bangkok. |

Thank you! I found some of the other posts and it was very helpful. Sorry, I'm not very versed in using forums.
I do have another question though: does anyone know if it's possible to strongly request a certain province, or say, for example, I absolutely don't want to teach in Isaan? Most of the other threads seemed to indicate MediaKids will pretty much just stick you in a rural area. |

If you want to work with MediaKids, just ask them what positions they have available and in which provinces. If you like the province and school and the school and Mediakids like you, then there you are. Tell them you are only interested in certain areas/provinces. Just dont accept areas you dont like. Nobody is forcing you to work for them. Most of their placements are not in makjor known cities, but in the past, plenty of positions were located in decent sized cities. As I always say, not everyone likes Bangkok and some people actually prefer smaller cities and even rural settings. If you are looking for Bangkok, Phuket, Chiang Mai, etc. Mediakids is not going to be helpful. Try JP, BFITS, ECC, etc. When dealing with agencies, always continue looking for work until you actually start. THings often change last minute with schools and agencies in Thailand. BTW, The thai word for teacher/professor is ajarn, try googling that and see what comes up.
Now, if you work through Mediakids through a TEFL school placement like ATI special thai project, you will most likely not have a lot of say in where you get placed. I'm sure you could make requests but not everyone is going to end up happy. |
