|
|
at my university, my normal monthly salary is 5800Y.
last june i was paid 5800Y (working for two weeks)
july: 5800Y (no work)
august 3000Y (no work)
i want to find out how common this is.
also, i am wondering what other people have been paid if they were not continuing at the school for the following year. was there no vacation pay? |

there are some schools that don't pay summer holiday whether you continue or not. i've never heard, though, of being paid for a summer (or, i suppose, winter, if that's the case) when you are not renewing your contract for the following year. |

You get exactly what you agree to in your contract.
If you leave the school in June, why should the school give you money for July/August if you don't work there?
Negotiate better in the future. |

what are you talking about? the person who started the thread said they were paid for the summer with no work. If true (anything's possible here) I'd say there's no need for better negotiation.
our school pays full salary for the summer if you stay on for another year. |

I have a 12 month contract, ends mid July. I get paid in full every month whether I work or not. Since January I've had over 6 months holiday..... so far. |

It is a good deal to get a monthly salary rather than a 'vacation allowance' which would probably total less than 1 or 2 months salary. |

I work in a university and receive full salary for Spring break (around 4 weeks duration) but nothing at all for July and August - in other words, 10 months pay. I was offered many jobs before accepting the one I have but understand this to be normal for university contract. Nobody offered to pay me during summer vac. |

Same same as Anglichanka, but I do IELTS examining too, so I still come out with a minuimum of 6k/month in July and August. |
