|
|
I have a Russian friend who would like to look for work in SE Asia. Obviously she is not a native English speaker. However, she does have a university degree in teaching French and English (and is a native Russian speaker of course). She also has experience teaching all three languages and currently works at an international school in Maldives (teaching elementary level courses in English and intermediate levels French as a foreign language). Are there any employment opportunities for her to look into either in Jakarta or Bali?
I know there are restrictions concerning English language teachers and native country citizenship. Anyone have any ideas or leads that she could follow for employment in Indonesia? She has also worked in marketing and translation fields as well.
Thanks! |

she could apply at all the nationalplus and "international" schools that hire teachers for the philippines, india, and singapore at grade level/subject teachers. depends on what she has a teaching qualification or just a degree in languages. i would say her chances are slim, but her white skin color would be a plus for marketing purposes, so maybe. i would imagine that her salary would be considerable less than for native speakers. ef bekasi used to hire some girl for norway or there abouts, and ef cempaka putih has a filipino DOS, so maybe she could get hired on by one of them. but with the apparant oversupply of people looking to become teachers, i thinks these schools can be more picky. it doesnt hurt her or take much time to send out emails with her resume/c.v |

Immigration may be striking down as an experienced Russian teacher was recently knocked back at a friend's (international) school. 1001 in Kota are still hiring Russians, but she sounds way over qualified... |

perhaps a demo is in order before making that judgement. |
