I have been noticing some Saudi positions I would be interested in pursuing. But I have a situation that worries me from my last position.
I was on a business visa in my last position (Shabaka) and at the last moment as we were all departing, I did not get a NOC certificate. The "brothers" running this company said I did not need one to teach elsewhere in Saudi as I was not on an iqama, and gave a number for me to call if I needed one eventually. Yet, a couple of my co-workers who were also on business visas got an NOC anyway.
I did not get along with my Canadian-American director for various reasons, all of which can be found here on this site, but enjoyed my position and generally had a good time. I'm not sure if by not getting an NOC I was being screwed with or what.
Could I come back, since I didn't officially work on an employment visa? (I know I shouldn't have done it, but...) Would appreciate some constructive replies. |

To the immediate attention of Al Shabaka illegal recruits, and to the Ministry of Labor's Deputy Minister Dr Mo:
The diplomatically brilliant, intelligent, poetic and humorous Minister Dr Gh turns over in the workers' union boardroom within the Great Beyond, a chairmanship very recently and peacefully awarded.
The "brothers", including the one a member of the King's Shoura Council, continue to gain infamy at home and abroad. "Gave a number for me to call"? Wasta, engaged at its, how you say, nefarious machinationously best.
GladToBeFree to return to Captivity?
Obviously you were not a Disciple.
All those No Objection Certificates are illegal, yet in compliance with Al Shabakan custom.
That's as constructive as it gets.

They are correct. Since your passport does not contain a Saudi work/residence visa, there's no evidence that you did actually work in KSA, because you did so on an illegal basis. You can therefore apply for a job with another Saudi employer without having to worry about an NOC. |

However, they will know that you previously went to KSA on a business visa. You might be required to explain this "trip"...to the Saudi Embassy or new employer...or would you? |

Yes you are referring to a person who attained this position due to his MA in Phys Ed. As I asserted to earlier, "we are not hockey players, we are teachers". His particular MO is to either bench you, or transfer you to another team. Popularity gained through coaching pyp Saudi footballers seems to be the way to fame. I personally got along with the old drill sergeant.

Perhaps. I'd imagine a single business visa wouldn't be a problem, but the embassy staff might well be curious about the presence of several renewed business visas over a one-year period. Technically it wouldn't be an impediment to getting a new visa, but yes, he might have a lot of explaining to do. |
