Can anyone provide some helpful information about Amerikan Kultur Dernegi in kocaeli? Anyone with experience there or who has heard anything about them? And about Kocaeli generally? I assume it doesn't pack quite the cultural punch of Istanbul. Very Happy I am just wondering if the school and city are tolerable. Thanks.

Hi
I don't know anything about the school but I am living and working in Izmit. It's a nice city. I like being near the sea. It's quite small but there are lots of places to visit nearby and, of course, it's very near to Istanbul. You can be in the Asian side in just over 1 hour.
Hope that helps.
xx

Thanks Miss. Are the locals fairly decent to foreigners?

I've had no problems with the locals. They are friendly in shops and cafes but other than that I am pretty much left alone.
I would recommend Izmit.
Let me know if you want any Izmit information.
xx
