Hi,

My Roman Catholic parents will be making their first visit to VN. Me, being their good church-going child Wink will need to know where to take them for a Sunday service in HCMC. English service would be a plus. Google search hinted that the cathedral does one. Can anyone confirm that or any other ideas? Tongue in cheek, sarcastic, atheistic responses welcomed, as is good info Smile Thanks.

Notre Dame has an English mass every Sunday wasn't sure if it was 9 or 10am but this site: http://www.etraveltips.net/2010/06/top-5-places-to-visit-in-saigon.html seems to imply that it's at 9:30. I went there twice about two years ago. It's bloody hot inside with just fans spinning. That said if you mingle out front after the service, there's plenty of people to chat with as it's the English service. Hope your folks have a great time.

Don't see how you could do better than the famous RC cathedral in D1. Whether they understand the language or not, the facility is impressive. But dress for the heat. I have been there on a Sunday evening about 7 PM and they had a service going, so I think that there are several masses during the day. Why don't you drop in for a reconnnasiance some Sunday afternoon and have a look around.

Bring them to one of the many pagodas here. More flowers and incense and less raping children and exploiting people and nature in the name of God, imho.
