what did you find? |
I found a website - wahm dot com - with a forum listing the pay at $5.86 per hour base + possibly more.
PS - I must say your list rocks! Thanks for all the info. Way cool.

I was told by someone that works there that if you are good and have a good reputation, you can get paid more. He is teaching some 'special' courses for about $18 an hour, I believe.
I was also told by someone else that if you use an apple you cannot work with TutorABC...
Another person told me that she enjoys teaching with them because they give you all of the material and all she has to do is show up and teach. I think this is great for people who are new at teaching live online. |

Are you folk seriously considering teaching for $5.86, even $7.50 an hour?
The word " desperate" springs to mind. |

No, actually I decided I'd rather play scales on my guitar.
I make $15+ per hour face to face, and a few of my friends think it is too cheap. I don't see myself doing online for $6-8 per hour. I don't have a pressing need for Paypal dollars. I don't want to sit at home all day. Etc.

That is the reason I have not taught for TutorABC as my rate is much higher for live online teaching. I'm just reporting what some people who work for them have told me. They are working in a low cost country and the salary is just fine for them... |

For some people, even if teaching onlines earns you less, it's more convienient, you dont' have to travel and fight traffic. |

I had two interviews and four trial lessons with their admin before they gave me students. They filled my schedule though and pay every two weeks on the dot. The pay depends on qualifications and was advertised between $12-17 an hour. (Most of the companies just give an orientation to the platform and that is all).
I think they are looking for people who have the proper qualifications (university degree, tesl certificate, celta, etc.) and not just someone who is a native speaker and can teach English. They also want people who have some technical know how, etc. |

Wow. That's intensive. I applied. Due to New Year's and then Lunar New Year's , I'm not holding my breath as to them getting back to me right away. |

basic knowledge:
-setting up a mic/headset
-using a webcam
basically if you can communicate on Skype with a webcam and without help, you have the technical know how--of course, I just teach for them--apply and find out... |

I am sure each country will be different. But, I will ask anyway. If you reside in a foreign country, I am interested in Indonesia, and teach solely online, can you do so on a tourist visa? |

I have taught over 700 sessions with Tutor ABC over a period of five years on and off. I had a base of $9 and I would always make at least $2-3 in bonuses per session (45 mins).
The students are great, very enthusiastic and usually well travelled. Tutor ABC always paid on time and I was never short of sessions with them.
I work with them when I live "on the beach". I will say that there are a lot of unhappy ex TutorABC teachers out there, but I never really had a problem with them and would definitely work with them again if the need arises. |
