Here is some new info I got direct from PYP. Qassim U is now using Al-Khaleej as its sweat shop recruiter. Al-Shabaka had also bid for the post but PJ could not convince the staff at Qassim of his educational prowess. Seems that PJ couldn't offer in the way of support and materials for teachers as could Al-Khaleej. Something to think about here PJ. Maybe you should stick to coaching hockey teams.

Regards.

Dear Grendal,

"So I says to Mabel I says..." I always wondered where this Simpsons line came from, and after checking, here's where it came from: It's an allusion to the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. At one of the parties, Gatsby meets two women already in conversation. We overhear this segment "So I says to Mabel, I says... I'll continue this later." Gatsby and the woman have a quick chat and Gatsby leaves. As he's leaving we hear the line again, "So I says to Mabel, I says..." This is mirrored in the episode, where Bart and Lisa are conversing, and Homer is the interrupter."

It's also a stereotype of inconsequential gossip that was commonly used in Vaudeville acts (e.g. George Burns and Gracie Allen.) And i suspect that lck was using it in this fashion.

So, I says to Mabel, I says Google is your friend.

Regards,
John

Dear NCTBA,

That was Nemo, wasn't it?

But Grendal can be the cithara you play (no, it wasn't a fiddle - they didn't come into being until around the eleventh century) while Rome (or the Middle East) burns.

Regards,
John
