Hello there, new to these forums!

My question is should I get TEFL certified?

I have 4-5+ years tutoring people ranging from ages 5-46.
I want to teach in the summer in a city in China anywhere between May 2012 to August 2012.

By the end of April, I will be 1 year away from my bachelor's degree.

I have heard alot of people say that TEFL doesn't help getting a job in China and some saying that it does help.

With these credentials, will getting a job in China be difficult?

Just for the summer? Difficult no matter your credentials.

For China, I'd get certification in the case of having long-term goals of teaching EFL. If it were just a year or two I wanted to do, then no certification. In the case of just a summer, I'd shorten it to a vacation and get on with my life. No certification.

Being certified does help for China, however for the most part no distinction is made between different certificates, so an unaccredited online 20 hour course will hold the same weight as a CELTA or TrinityTESOL.
I saw plenty of job ads for summer camp teachers this year, but don't know anything more than that with regards to how difficult it would be to get a summer job.

Ah ok, thanks for that information...

Zero, why is it more difficult in the summer? Is it because there are less classes during the summer?
