|
|
We are two married ESL/EFL professionals planning to arrive in Turkey from the U.S. early June '10 to look for English teaching positions. We plan to stay in Turkey over a year. We don't want to buy a round-trip air ticket because we would have to return within a year or face a $250 change fee to extend the date of the return flight.
Under what conditions will the Turkish government allow us to arrive with a one-way ticket? If necessary, we can prove financial self-support, but (if needed) how is that done?
Thanks for your help!

carolcroach,
I have been into Turkey 5 or 6 times on a one way ticket, and have never been asked any questions while entering. If you are allowed out of the originating country then you should have no problem entering Turkey on a one-way ticket.
Of course don't forget to bring cash for the required visa which can range from 15-80 euros depending on your passport.
Best of luck! |

I arrived one-way ticket a few months ago and didn't have any problems.
If your passports are American they will want $20 cash in US dollars only, not Euros, not Turkish Lira. American Dollars. So definitely bring some 20s with you as only a few ATMs here dispense them. |

| This is a little off-topic, but you may want to reconsider coming in June or reconsider coming without having jobs already lined up. There are jobs, but there are not as many in the summer. |

| I'm a little worried about the same thing, especially because I've heard visa rules are changing. Does anyone know if it's still fine to arrive in Turkey on a one-way ticket? Thanks! |

| It seems like every year there is some scare about visa rules changing. Look at the website for your country's embassy in Turkey and see what the rules are. The last I heard, they changed the rules for British citizens. Something about a visa that allows you multiple entries and exits for a total of 90 days within a 180 day period of time. There should be no problem coming in on a one-way ticket. |

| One way tickets are still fine. Visa prices tend to remain about the same, as well. |
