Is there a time in Japan between semesters when winter English camps are offered for children? I teach in China and have 7 weeks off in my school, from about 1/3 to 2/21 and am looking for creative and, hopefully, profitable ways to spend the holiday.

Winter breaks are much shorter in general and don't match the time when you are off very well. The winter break comes half way through the second semester, which actually starts in about October with the academic year finishing in March (not July like in China).

Under my BOE for example, all our JH schools only had about 1 week for the winter vacation running from 12/27 until around 1/6.

Besides, I haven't heard anything about winter camps. The summer break is the real time for camps since depending on the part of Japan it is anything from 3 weeks to almost 2 months long.

You'd be better off looking for camps in China during that time. They do exist and some pay quite good money. I got offered a few camp jobs paying about 10,000 yuan plus transport, room and board when I was working at a uni in Zhejiang. I didn't accept any holiday work though because I had plans to visit friends and family in Guangzhou and HK.

You will need a work visa even for a summer or winter camp. Unless you get something through a university in your home country, I have seen no camp in Japan that will sponsor a work visa. Seems silly for them to do that anyway.

South Korea will be a better option. Tons of summer and winter camps throughout Korea, and they hire far and wide throughout the world to get them there for it as well. Plus they pay well.

Surprisingly, teaching at camps is very sparse here in Japan.
