Dear all,
I know that this question must have alreay come up before and that it is quite an open-ended one, however any thoughts?
What does a teacher with a few years experience without an MA get (on average)?
What does a teacher with a few years experience with an MA get?
I know that teachers can be given different wages, but from experience what is the minimum one should be looking at in the above scenarios?
Thanks a lot

Basically, most contractors in Saudi are paying everybody almost the same salary. On average an all inclusive package (base salary+ housing allowance + transportation allowance) is $4000.00 USD or 15K riyals. Give or take 1000 SR for experience/degree. |

Research the pay scale because they will pocket what you don't know the actual institution they will contract you out to will be willing to pay for your services. For example, one particular agency that I was working with was also using several other smaller companies to do the application and recruiting process. However, there was poor communication between them. So, one offered me a really low salary which I accepted at first because I was just thinking that I just wanted the experience of working and living there. However, I interviewed with a particular university but didn't know that they would ultimately be using an agency to deal with the actual employment side of things. So, later I was contacted by a recruiting agency about the offer made from the university that I interviewed with but never received it. So, I told the guy and he sent it to me. The offer turned out to be over $8,000 more than the other offer I had received. So, I decided to accept the other offer because I really wanted to work at the university that I interviewed with. However, come to find out, they were using the same Saudi employing agency as the other university which I had received a lower off. When it came down to it, the Saudi employment agency wanted me to accept the lower salary over the higher salary (which was still lower than what I would actually get from the university after the agency determined how much of the salary they would take for profit) for working at the other university that I preferred to work at. Unfortunately, because of this, I refused to settle and refused to work with this company. However, that meant I wouldn't work at the university that I really wanted to.
So, please don't settle for anything that you feel is too low. |
