Two questions:

1. If I'm flying to Turkey on a tourist visa and having the work visa processed once I'm there, can I get into the country on a one-way ticket? Or do I have to have a return ticket that leaves in 90 days?

2. What about teaching private lessons in Turkey? Is this allowed, legally speaking, in Turkey? If not, will they crack down if I do? Also, is it something I should ask my employer about, or is it "don't ask, don't tell"?

Thanks,
~Q

1. I flew into Ankara twice on 1-way tickets during my stay in Turkey. No questions asked.

2. Everyone does privates, the police don't care. In fact, I had several close friends who were ranking police officers, and they couldn't have cared less that I was doing privates. I also gave private lessons to a high court judge, and the only thing he was concerned about was the price!

The only people you would probably have to keep it quiet from would be your school, as most contracts forbid it. Again, everyone does it, most of my co-workers did, you just need to be reasonably discreet.

Hope that helps.
