Hey I have looked at the thread that another lady had a skpe interview with ETA ( Experience teaching Abroad ) and she was told that she was successful that she must now pay 50 pounds to them. I have a skype interview on Wed also and now I feel it is scam.
I have taught English in Thailand and South Korea (5 years ago) and I found my jobs through this website but the Agencies never asked for any money upfront. My understanding is that agencies are paid by the educational establishment to place the students similiar to a recruitment agency. The candidataes never pay the agency to be placed!
I am now reluctant to go through with this skpe interview for fear of the same thing. I am in no way handing over any money until I am working in the school in Thailand and signed a contract.
Anybodyelse go any thoughts? Could any one recommend any good reputable agencies that place teachers in Thailand? Preferably one of the islands?
cheers! |

Legitimate recruiting agencies NEVER charge job seekers a fee. It is ALWAYS the school who pays the recruiter/recruiting fees. There are also many, many places where you can read job listings (with contact information) for free.
There are lots of jobs listed on this (and other job sites) that are direct from the school and/or through recruiters.
It is a bit off season for Thailand but there are lots of listings on the various job sites including this one (Dave's http://www.eslcafe.com/joblist/ ) and the other popular one at ajarn.com .
