I recently got to mexico and just received my fm3 visa. I was wondering what to do about health insurance. I think you are elegible for imms with an FM3. Is the the best option? I know GNP is a big health insurer as well. Any suggestions.
Thanks,

Did you get your FM3 through and employer? If so, you should ask them if national health care is covered. Lots of people choose to just use private doctors as health care here is far less expensive than in the US and Canada. |

Does anyone know how IMSS premiums are paid as far as the scale goes? It looks to me like about 8% or so or one's gross pay. Is that fixed across the payscale? |

IMSS is a progressive tax. Remember, it also includes your retirement.
If you are working for a company and are on nomina, you should have IMSS. If not, you need to check out why. Some companies will try to skirt the rules and charge you IMSS but not pay it. Your company should give you an "hoja rosa" which you take to IMSS and get your "carnet", which gives you access to IMSS for any medical problems. You will stand in line a lot. |
