No idea what you problem is or what that means in terms of pain/nuisance but you are going to have it often if blackboards can cause the issue.

In any public school position you can assume you'll be using one pretty much everyday. Sometimes you'll only be writing up a couple of models or using it to keep score, but other days you could be spending large chunks of time using it or require it in numerous lessons within a single day.

Just on Monday, I spent three consecutive 50 mins periods, frantically scribbling the test answers on the board whilst the JTE explained and we were both bombarded by students questions about alternative answers, so that they could check that their tests had been marked correctly and possibly gain a mark or two if I gave the OK.
Then in between lessons we had to make additions to the mark scheme changes on the board in the English staffroom so that the other teachers could make a note when they came in and let their students know, too.
On Tuesday I only spent half of 2 periods doing the same and only made a couple of small additions to the mark scheme changes, because I was dealing with Yr1 tests which are always far simplier and with far fewer debatable answers.

Expect to use a board (black, green, or white) every day you are in class. Just how much will vary with the lesson.

Maybe you can bring in your own overhead projector with a supply of those clear sheets you can write on. All you have to worry about then is your students taking advantage of the lights being off and passing out.

Check out stefanreynolds previous posts!Always trolling, telling people with sexual harassment problems to get a girlfriend and also telling gay people that they have no morals and should tell there employees that their gay. Rolling Eyes

I bet stefanreynolds is now using the word "black board" to make people say, "actually we call it a chalkboard these days becuase were liberals" or something like that I think. Rolling Eyes

Blackboards are used all the time, I don't really see how you can get around this!

So far this 'topic' might rank as considerably more banal than many yet seen on this board. Either that or a troll at work...

You might want to bring a pair of gloves because ALTs use blackboards every single day. Rolling Eyes

Actually I rarely use the blackboard... but I think that's because my JTEs are control freaks.
