I can (and do!) live without them, but I do miss pubs, a decent daily paper, good live music, meat and potato pies, roast dinners, greasy spoons, dirty curries, fish and chips, four seasons, fresh air. Not necessarily in that order. Oh yes, and family and friends of course.

Hold on. You're in Hong Kong, or your profile says so anyway. And you don't have a Four Seasons near you? |

I miss conversations that do not revolve around the latest television show or soap, a culture that does not revolve around the pub and alcohol, snow in winter... proper snow that lasts more than 5 minutes, different food in the market, sitting on public transport and being marvellously unaware of the conversation content of fellow travellers thus allowing my thought process to continue uninterrupted. I miss cheaper transport systems for sure!!!!
London is not all bad, but the fish and chips has suffered immeasurably since I first left back in the seventies. Now the cut of fish is determinable by its fish shape previously it was a slice ofa bigger fish. Does this mean there are fewer big cod swimming around our shores? |

When in Germany I quite missed Sainsbury's and the Marks & Sparks food hall - Aldi and Edeka just don't compare.
Now I'm in dear old Blighty I miss German/Austrian public transport like hell and I yearn for proper bread. Returning from a visit to Berlin a couple of weeks ago the BGS (German immigration and customs) searched my case going out of Tegel airport and couldn't understand why I had four loaves of fairly ordinary German bread. Maybe they should try eating Mothers Pride...
Hope to go off to Indonesia later this year so dunno what I'll miss the most - privacy probably. |

-Decent sausages
-Being able to put my cooking skills into practice
-Wider social life
-The colour green
-People not letting doors slam in your face as you try to walk through with six bags of shopping
-Shop assistants smiling and being polite as opposed to looking as if an alien has just walked through the door (and other instances when being unnoticable is more comforting)
-Chedder cheese
-Public Libraries
-Second-hand book stores
-Having a garden
-My mum's roast potatoes and yorkshire puds |

Will, I thought the point was that there are no cod swimming around our shores any more ... |

I used to get black pudding in Saudi. It had obviously not seen a pig, and any blood poducts are also haram. I do not know what it was made of, but after a few minutes in my grill, whilst not rivalling the products of my Lancashire shops, it tasted right nice, I say right nice. |

Really good cheddar cheese and monster munch... and my local pub, where they just nod at me and place my drink on the bar as I walk in the door. And friendly banter with random people on the street. And not being treated differently because of being evidently foreign. And... hmmm... quite a lot, really. |

A fry-up on Sunday morning, followed by the car boot sale. Then the Rugby, footbal, F1, Dinner time, Roastie, Roast Spuds, parsnips, carrots, sweede, a good scotch and a night of passion before commencing work on Monday.
Feck me I LOVED Sundays
