Hey,
I'm trying to decide on whether to do the Celta in England or in Thailand. I'd like to land a job asap once I've completed the Celta so it makes sense to do it in Thailand, in this case, how do I prepare my visa? - becaring in mind I'd like to be in Thailand before the end of the month. Another question is about the course itself, and Thailand in general: How noisy is it? If I'm to be studying, and later, living, will the noise be a disturbance?
Thanks |

Unless you have a bachelors degree to go with your CELTA you had better not plan on getting legal work in Thailand after you complete your course.
You can obtain a 60 day tourist visa in your home country before you fly to Thailand. It typically takes 2-4 days.
If you do NOT obtain one you will only be granted a 30 day stamp on arrival (visa waiver) and an extension (7 days) will cost you b1900 or a run to the border and back will get you an additional 15 days (again about b2000).
How noisy is the UK? How noisy is it will depend on where you want to live. If your choice is downtown BKK it will be a bit noisy. If you choose a place next to Nana Plaza it will be quite noisy. If you choose a place away from the nightlife it will be quiet.

Have degree.
Should've been more clearer in the OP but when I asked about the noise I was referring to the location of the Celta schools: International House Bangkok/ Chang Mai. |

Pretty sure the IH Chiang Mai course is on a secluded resort, so noise will not be a concern. Although also think that it transport to and from the main city can be a bit of a pain.
The IH in Bangkok is on a very busy street and in a major shopping district (Silom) right near Sala Daeng BTS station. As you are studying 9-5 most days, noise shouldn't be a problem in the school. It is in a quiet (almost empty) building and I didnt have any noise issues when I was there (ask if they have A/C yet). Expect busy and noisy morning in the area and busy and noisy evenings when you leave.
Dont know about the ECC locations.
In general, Thailand is pretty noisy comparatively. People live outside here so lots of people and action in the streets. Thais also seem to have one volume setting for loudspeakers, stereos, bars, etc. and that is MAX. |

maybe because i'm jet-lagged, and this guy sat next to me sounds as if he's thumping the keys in the keyboard, but how is it to sleep at night in Thailand, strange question maybe, but in Bangkok or the other big cities, are there any problems? |

It may be pretty noisy if you get a noise fan or air-con unit in your apartment/room.
BKK is no different than any city in the UK when it comes to noise from the environment or the neighbors.
If you get a room over a videoke bar, 7-11 store or next to an "entertainment center" like "Nana plaza" it will be noisy. If you get a room in a residential area it will be quiet.
Most (smaller) apartments have walls made of brick or concrete so they tend to be pretty noise resistant.
Your worry about noise seems pretty "out-there". Can we infer that you have never traveled off the farm?

haha no you can't infer that. Like I said I was a wee bit jet-lagged when asking about the noise and I've just experienced a week of barely any sleep due to the noise outside my apartment so it was playing on my mind.
mmm but I imagine a farm is nice and peaceful. |
