Hi, ive been teaching English in Cambodia for around a year, and i'm looking at moving on.
I don't have a degree (i'm educated to GCSE A standard) and i don't have any certificates as such.
But i do have a years worth of experience.

Could anybody suggest any other countries where it may be quite easy to find work without these things?

Thanks a lot.....

Easy to find work = anywhere in SE Asia, Central/South America.

Easy to find LEGAL work (with visa and/or work permits) = virtually no-where without some qualifications (TEFL/TESOL as a minimum).

Spend the 30 days to at least get a TEFL cert and you start to open up some doors.

Thanks for that, so as far as the tefl's are concerned, would an online course suffice?
And which countries in particular when you say central/south America would you reccomend?

Thanks again.....

I picked up my first TEFL job in Indonesia while on vacation. I didn't have my degree with me, and told them I could get it shipped within a few days from home (the States) if they needed it, and they said not to worry about it. Many of the teachers there work with no quals/experience at all. With a year of experience u'll be a better 'catch' than some other rookie teachers there.

As Ttom said, you technically need a tefl cert and possibly a degree, BUT the term 'LEGAL' has a different meaning in Asia than it does in the West. All the teachers I knew in Indonesia that were working without the quals had LEGAL work visas/KITAS. The school pays that for you there.

I've said this before, but you're 'illegally working legally.'

Do a CELTA/Trinity Cert TESOL, and look at it as investment.

Don't do an online TEFL course, as for the most part employers think very little of them.

Probably China -- definitely China. Seriously, though -- do a 30 day on site TESL course.

If you've got money ..

CELTA
TRINITY
SIT

Moderately cheap priced course providers with world wide centres and a level of name brand (not on the name brand level of the three above though)

INTESOL World Wide
ITTO
I to I
TEFL International (it might have the most centres)

I to I is crap.... I guess they would be considered notorious.... Of the moderately cheap ones, I would go with TEFL International...

to be honest, the cash situation isn't looking as healthy as i'd like it to... To be honest, the school i'm at now in Cambodia didn't even ask to see any credentials..... which was fine by me.

So, if i just bowled up in China, with say $2000 in my pocket, what do you think my chances are of getting some form of qualification/certificate and work??

And where in China would you's reccomend exactly?

Thanks again, i sincerely appreciate your feedback.

2000 USD is a good chunk of change in China, but if you just show up......

It's best to have SOME direction when you get here and to have enough to make an escape if need be.

Well, a half decent cert/qual would cost you AT LEAST $1,000, so that sounds like a bad plan to me....

What do you get paid in Cambodia!?!?

Earning that much you should be able to save for a TEFL certificate to help yourself and your students.

Don't you think you owe it to yourself and your students to at least get a B.A.?
