|

Hi There. I searched this forum for any information on this topic, but could not find any. If I missed it, please forgive me.
I got a DWAI (lesser form of DUI which stands for "driving while ability impaired") a little less than a year ago. I know it's a dumb crime, but I can't take it back and now have to live with it on my record.
My question has two parts. First, how difficult is it to get a work visa for Indonesia with this on my record?
Second, how hard is it to get a job there with this on my record? If possible, I would like to know the answer to this question in regard to the big schools like EF and also the smaller schools.
I am especially hoping to hear from people with criminal backgrounds who got visas and jobs (or didn't get them). Of course, all input is appreciated! |

There is no requirement (yet!) to provide a police records check for a work visa in Indonesia, unlike in countrties like Korea. |

Unless you're applying to work at an international school, you have nothing to worry about. |

Even most international schools don't run police checks. I seriously wouldn't worry with a DUI. It wouldn't stop you from teaching in a western country, so there's no reason it would stop you here. Drug and/or sex offences is another matter. |
