I am curious, what is the dish here. How does it feel?

Likely better if he had revived the old thread rather than starting a new one.

Dear Grendel,

If it's "dish" that is causing your puzzlement:

"gossip, when speaking about a person or persons not present. "Gossip" (and "dish" in this sense) implies that the subject of the information isn't present.
Give me all the dish on him!"

Regards,
John

Dear lck,

True - since it's often "the dirt" that's being dished. I could be wrong, but I think that it's used more often among the gay community than by others.

I wonder if it came from/is at all related to the expression, "He can dish it out but he can't take it."

Regards,
John
