Hello all,
Not technically too new to this game, but I do have a newbie relevant question....
Are there any places you can actually find short term jobs?
I've searched plenty online and the links on the sites don't actually lead anywhere?
Any advice???
Thanks. |

Yes, there are.
* Summer camps. It's a bit too soon to start planning for these now, but you can find work for 1-3 months. I think there are more in Asia (China, Korea...?) than other places.
* Private language schools that teach in companies. They can get new company contracts any time of the year--they are not limited to an academic calendar. If something comes up halfway through a year or term, they may need somebody who can finish the term for them.
* Replacements for runners (or people who quit for whatever reason). These also could be from any given starting point until the end of the term/year. If you're applying for a job to replace someone, though, the school will likely need you there ASAP.
These possibilities exist all over the place... Just start browsing here or at tefl.com.

3 months +, but less than an academic year. I often find projects that I'm interested in for the Summer, Easter and Christmas holidays, but I can never seem to find the in between bits, and so end up in full year/academic year posts.
Thanks for the suggestions so far, btw! |

Where are you interested in working? There are 200 countries in the world.
3 months will not be long enough for you to make up all of your setup expenses, certainly not in Japan (where I live). Here, the only real short-term option is with Westgate Corporation, but you need to be qualified.
As for camps, look at them carefully, because I think you'll find many/most want you to have a work visa already. Such things are not usually granted for terms of less than a year, but you might find a university in your country that helps sponsor such short-term stays and visas. |
