I had a very bad fall down a couple of flights of steps at work and hit my head on the marble floor. I was taken to a hospital but my experience there was awful; I had to convince the doctor to order an x-ray. She didn't even examine me.
I'm new in Ridayh. I've asked people where I work but no one seems to be able to recommend a doctor to me.
I'd appreciate some help. A few of my teeth also got damaaged.
Can anyone recommend a good dentist?
What a way to begin a new job in a new country!
Thanks. |

That's the thing with medical care in this country, it is a hit and miss, but more miss, though.
For dentists, go to Maghrabi Clinic. They have branches all over the country, and even in neighboring Arab countries. They are on the expensive side, but they are professional and good (mostly).
Good luck fixing yourself up...
BTW, it is Riyadh, or simply Riyad |

First of all, you'll need to check your health insurance, as even with the best policies, not all hospitals are covered. Your insurance card should have come with a booklet with this information.
If your insurance covers it, Hammadi hospital in central Riyadh is good, and they also have good dentists. Saudi German hospital is also said to be good, though I've never used it myself. |

Sorry to hear about your misfortune. The problem with Health Insurance anywhere is that you don't know how good it is until you have to try it.
I am lucky enough to have membership of a group scheme with AXA through my employer. They picked up the tab for me in 2004 when I had open-heart surgery here. It saved my life.
The better employers in KSA provide good health insurance - altghough if you work in the government sector you should have access to government hospitals if you can fight through the bureaucracy. |

Cleopatria, I know what you mean about checking a booklet to find out what your coverage is.
As far as I know, there is no booklet. We were sent a list of hospitals via e-mail. I received my insurance card from another teacher.
It's mystery insurance. One thing is clear, though, there's a 20% deductible.
At this point, I'll pay whatever I have to for good care.
The group scheme with AXA sounds great, scot 47. A good thing, too!
Thanks to everyone who responded.
I have an appointment with a neurologist. The neurologist was concerned enough to give me an appointment tomorrow.
Then I did some more reading about head trauma. It seems that the brusing that has developed may be indicative of internal bleeding.
Scary scary stuff. |
