May get a contract there.

Heard the bad reviews about Aston, but I like the sound of Chonqing and my time is running out for getting a job seeing as I leave Korea in 20 days. Any info on the school in Chonqing?

My other options are Nanjing for no pay (4800 rmb) or Shenyang for great pay (8000 rmb) but in a freezing cold city.

I only want a 6 month contract and Im going more for the experience rather than financial reasons

If money is no problem, then why not just travel around China until you find a school and city that you like ?

I agree with Roger. If money is of no concern, simply travel. If you need a bit, go where you think would be interesting.

You've previously mentioned that Nanjing appeals to you, but the salary is too low. I guess money is a factor.

Personally, I'd go to Nanjing. If you can arrange to have Friday's off, you will be able to take weekend trips to other places in China. Suzhou, Hangzhou and Shanghai are short fast-train rides away from Nanjing. If money isn't a factor, you could hop on a plane Thursday night or early Friday morning in order to visit places further away.

Whatever your wayward mind decides - Good Luck!

Thanks....money is a factor but saving a great deal isn't.

Ive heard Nanjing is too expensive for the very low (4800rmb) salary I was offered. Basically I dont want to lose any money and after 6 months, I want the money Ive made in China to heavily contribute to a trip to Japan. Chonnqing sounds interesting, warm enough and the kind of place I would quite like to stay for awhile

Yet again there though, the salary is low (only 5000 for 20 hrs) but I could probably get extra hours at the school or privates

My final advice to you is to find out where in Chongqing the school is. I know someone who was offered a job in Chongqing, but, the school was more than 1 hour from downtown.

The same goes for a lot of schools. Technically, they are in the advertised city, but in reality they are 1 to 2 hours away.

If you're from the US, it's like saying the school is in NY but is actually in Philadelphia.

Aston is a joint venture of a Chinese woman and an English man. You will spend your money because you put the money up to come to the school and then may or not be paid. It is located in Shangdong. Shandong has no rules about paying foreigners. For example if you work till the 29th day of the month they do not have to pay you for that month.
The Chinese woman's name is Caroline Huang.

I live in Chongqing and I have never seen a dust storm. Sha ping ba is one of several commercial districts in Chongqing. There are also several universities there. The school you mention has a decent enough reputation but it pays far less than any of the other centers. The weather is decent here in the winter but no sun and the summers are very hot. If you are worried about the pay I feel that you would have no problem catching on with somebody else.

I'm pretty sure that it is an American husband, and they are based in Dalian. Considering that you already have some experience teaching, you can surely do much better than this outfit.

Either keep trying to get a deal with a more reputable employer (Universities in the PRC are your best bet) during your remaining days in SK, or as suggested before come here and find something in person.
