...with an MA Appl. Ling, CELTA, 6 yrs experience at tertiary including 2 years teacher training at post grad level?
I have no experience in the ME, but am looking for a cultural change, so I've started sniffing around.
I have been offered 'basic' salary of 1000 rial + allowance bringing the total package to 1378 rial. It was a recruiting company who gave me the offer.
What should I be negotiating for at a tertiary/ corporate level?

That is likely close to the top that you will get from recruiters or some small private universities. They tend to have a set entry pay no matter your credentials. I suggest that you apply directly to the universities that take direct applications... like SQU and University of Nizwa. I would think you should get closer to 12-1300 plus free housing and all other usual perks. But, people don't go to Oman for the high pay because it isn't there...
Any hiring done now will be for next Aug/Sept...
No corporate jobs to speak of...

| That is the highest offer you will recieve outside of SQU. MOM pays the highest, through recruiters, and then the private colleges. Your total salary to expect including all allowances will not be more than 1400. |

Alinyusa... we are all teachers you know. We don't really know the salary range for profs in engineering. They won't tell us.  It will be lower than the UAE. Just apply and see what kind of offer you get.
