Hi everyone!
I've recently moved to the UK to conduct some PhD research, I have my accomodation all set up (so no financial worries in that department) I live around the notting hill area and I'm looking to find a part-time teaching job here in London.
As far as my qualifications go, I have 2 BA from an American University and I have an MA in History. I got my CELTA 2 years ago, and spent 18 months teaching in a private language school in China - I focused heavily on IELTS exam preparation classes.
I haven't been able to find many job offerings online and was wondering if anyone here could provide some help and insight as to how I should go about securing a part-time teaching job here. I'm not too worried about salary, I realize the pay isn't great but I just want to make some money to cover some daily expenses.
I would really appreciate any guidance anyone might offer |

It's the wrong time of year to be looking for ELT work in the UK.
The trade here is summer-mushrooom-pile-'em-high-sell-it-really-rather-expensive-while-not-paying-teachers-very-much.
You might have better luck advertising on sites like gumtree, or recruiting privately through the university network and the like, but I wouldn't hold out for a teaching position with an established school - they probably already have their winter teaching allocation covered, and only an unexpected departure will change that. |
