Hello ESLers,

Might seem like a silly question but what is the most common practice for those looking for jobs in China.

A.) Posting on the DEC your resume and waiting for a response.

B.) Simply looking at the job posts and contacting the schools directly.

C.) Posting on multiple resume job sites.

Also for those looking for jobs, which sites in addition to DEC are most useful for jobs in china. I ask as there seem to be soo many.

Thanks to all for your input in advance.

Looking for jobs from abroad?

The pro-active approach is far more effective than a passive one if you really want to find a decent job.

E-mailing the schools and recruiting firms is your first choice.
Include a brief cover letter, resume, (low-res) scans of: your passport information page, your degree, teaching cert (if you have one), and photo.

It shows that you are capable of accepting a job, qualified and able to begin the visa process. You will get far more interest and job offers than you would by simple posting a resume and hoping for the best.

If you post your CV, be prepared to receive a lot of spam... You're far better off being the one doing the looking and contacting, so you can target your CV to jobs that you actually want.
