So, my school lost the envelope containing all the paperwork for my work permit. To be fair, we're in a new building, and there are construction workers all around, we barely had walls up until 2 weeks ago, and everything is a little bit chaotic. I'm 100% sure it was an (unfortunate, irresponsible) accident, and not intentional. I have already been working at this job for about a month.
That being said, I need to get new paperwork, and I'm not sure how to go about that process from here in Vietnam. (I was living in Turkey when I went through the process 2 months ago).
I believe I have an extra Background Check sitting in my suitcase (thank heavens!), so I don't have to apply for another one. I don't have a degree, (I'm coaching gym and doing program development, not directly teaching English), and don't need one. I'm being hired as a "specialist", so I need my original certifications from the National Coaching Certification Program and Gymnastics Canada, as well as 5 years proof of employment in gymnastics. I had all my original coaching paperwork, including my coach card, in that envelope... FML.
Once I finally get all these papers in my hand, how do I get them stamped and notarized from here in Vietnam? Can I go to the Canadian Embassy? What about the Vietnamese stamp? It was easy enough in Turkey, I just went to both the Canadian and Vietnamese Embassies, and they stamped and signed everything... Will I have to pop over to a neighboring country to do this?
arrghhh... Sorry to make this so long. I've checked around for other posts, but haven't really found an answer, especially because I don't need a degree. ANY help would be greatly appreciated! |

Good luck on getting what you need to get the process started again. You "believe" you have a copy of your criminal check? I hope you do. Because otherwise you'll have to return to Canada, or wait 6 months in VN and get a time-consuming local check.
As for schools losing documents for the work permit, it has happened before.
Organized chaos, and a lack of common sense. |

The process I went through (Australian) , was to have all my documents notorised by the Embassy. This cost a fortune for something that is free in Australia.
Then you have to find a place which is authorised to authorise that the stamp of the emabassy is not fake.
You then need to get them all tanslated into Vietnamese. Be careful here and make sure that the translation is correct, get a friend or someone to check for you. A common practice here is to find a doc they transalated in the past, and then just use the same as that and just change your name. e.g. my Masters all of a sudden became a Bachelor
That means you have 3 different processes to go through beofre they are accepted at Immigration.
Good luck
