My friend mentioned this place. I think it's the right name, though he spelled something different in an email (he always makes lots of spelling errors). Well, just curious I searched on google and got "Did you mean Hat-Khabar?" Information seems scant there. Something about Khabar (major media outlet) and other links about hats. I don't know anything about it. Wonder if anyone here does. I'm not sure my friend knows whatever it is he's talking about though he mentioned trying to get a visa to go to Kazakhstan, which I've heard can be difficult to obtain...? |

I have never heard of it, but "khat" in Kazakh is literally translated as letter and "khabar" is news. What city is it supposed to be in?
Obtaining a work visa and permit can be difficult depending on the sponsor's connections. |

In case it's still of any interest, just to inform, 'Khabar' is indeed a media centre. To be more precise, it's a 'government run' operation which has it's own news channel, radio broadcasts and so forth. The central operation is still based in Almaty.
The main kind of recruitment they would indulge in would be therefore media work. Expat speakers would have a particular small role or two within this.
They did in the past help their modicum of ex-pat staff with visas. I don't think they are too keen to do this so much now, for various reasons. I've had friends who have worked for Khabar, so this would not just be hear-say. |
