It's not the schools that need your degree, it's immigration. And yes, it has to be the original. Just needs to be the certificate though. And you'll need to bring it to interviews, because it's the school that will usually be sorting out your work permit. |

You have to provide the original to MOET.
A copy will not do. |

Giving my original degree cert to a Govt office is a bit scary.
How long are you parted from these documents?
By the way...
With regards to the Police checks.... do you only need one from the country of the passport you are using or are you supposed to provide one from everywhere you have lived?
Thanks |

This is not true. I got my work permit after submitting certified copies (actually it was my school that submitted them), accompanied by an affidavit stating their authenticity from my consulate. |

I only supplied country of origin, which I have not lived in for many years and had no problems |

Exactly! Certified copies work just great. Just get you proper documentation and you will be great, mate.

HR, I asked the same question as a way of not having to hand over my original degree, but I have always been told that it has to be the certificate and not transcript. Saying that, i dont work for the MOET.
I hated the idea of handing over my certificate in case they lost it, but i found out that if it were to happen i can order another certificate online from my uni for under $100 within a month. |

Yeah most schools will sell you an extra degree fairly cheap (most for less than 100 bucks). Even though I have my originals, I still intend to order copies and use those for overseas. |

No need to use originals, notarized and legalized copies are fine. That is the norm.
Do you really think they're going to ask everyone for their scroll? It has to be stamped for the work permit. |
