Don't know if you've noticed that more & more students over the past five years or so have expressed an interest in learning Spanish. Students have asked me to teach them, and I would, but I've looked at the books for sale and they are all pretty lousy--they really assume the students have dictionary in hand every minute or already have a passing knowledge of Spanish. I know this is a tall order--asking for a good Spanish text on an ESL site--but I'm not sure where else to go.

I woiuldn't say it's a good text for beginners, but Espanol ABC could be used quite effectively I think. They also do ESPANOL MODERNO.

Perhaps this link will work

check amazon and read reviews to find out which books are good and then make a purchase. you can also scour the torrent sites for ebooks to download, and you can print off what you need.

Here's the book series I used in college. I liked it because it was very graphic-orientated which helped in building a rich vocab. However, I my grammar was still in the crapper after four semesters but I knew a lot words. It's called Asi Es.

You might have to slow boat from the Estados Unidos to get it here, though.
