My wife landed a job with Hess and will start training in November. I was rejected but plan to look for work when we arrive. It sounds likely we'll be located in Taipei County.
Can anybody provide info on the job market in Taipei County? I'm asian and have no prior teaching experience. I have a BS in business. I want to have realistic expectations of how long I may have to search for a contract. This way my wife won't be supporting my unemployed ass while our marriage dissolves over unmet expectations and a lack of cheese.
What is Taipei County like? I envision it as a giant suburb requiring a bicycle to get around. Hopefully there are lots of green spaces/parks and interesting neighborhoods to explore.
Thanks in advance - jfueng |

To be honest, I think you might have a difficult time securing a decent job upon arrival. The job market isn't that great, particularly for teachers with little experience.
If you can't find anything published on the job boards here, you might want to check out these other resources:

And Taipei County is not how I think you're imaging it. The streets are still crowded and not really bicycle friendly. There are also not that many parks. Overall I think you'll find Taiwan a little dirty.. |
