I was looking at some books last week on teaching EFL and started thinking that writing a book about teaching or living in Mexico may be a good way to branch out from EFL teaching. A good way to make a LITTLE money on lulu.com. A good way for one to use their incredible teaching skills to help others and themselves.
Any of you wonderful and acomplished EFLer's here on daves thought about doing this or have you done it already? Laughing Wink

I already have an anthology of poetry published on Lulu, and it's a great way to go if you think about how to publicize it. The problem in Mexico is that the shipping costs add significantly to cost of the book, but I suppose it would be good for someone in the USA thinking about EFLing in Mexico.

I saw a very thick and comprehensive book about Mexico for expats in general in Liverpool many years ago, but haven't seen it since, so yes, I've thought about it, like many things, but haven't put my thoughts in to action. Besides, my EFL knowledge isn't across the board.

Not EFL, but here's a journalist and author living in Mexico City that has produced some books on his time here. Great reads if you haven't seen them already.

I have to admit, my burning desire is to write a book that addresses, from my personal viewpoint, the problems Mexico has, and offers first-world solutions. However, such a book would probably get me run out of town, or shot! Confused

You might be able to start a blog or something, put "Google" ads on it and profit from traffic when they click on the ads.

So you could blog about the daily struggle in the DF and get some $ for driving traffic to various ads.

Vested interests of those I'd have to criticize and suggest a way to remove their meal ticket.
