|
|
Without wishing to come across as an advert for the company, I have just finished a 2-year contract with UTG and since I'd be happy to moan if it had gone badly, I'm going to praise since it went so well....
Most of UTG's English teaching is done at desert locations. Although this can feel a little isolated, there is always a member of the management team available if you need to contact them for support - either concerning the job or the logistics of getting in and out of the desert.
The classroom facilities are excellent. Smartboards, scanners, photocopiers, computers printers, etc are available at every location - a necessity when you consider where most of the teaching takes place.
The cost of food, accommodation, visas and flights at the beginning and end of every rotation are covered by the company making it a great opportunity to put some pennies in the bank.
Basically, when I have had teaching jobs in the past, there have always been positives and negatives. With UTG in Libya, apart from the fact that you are in the desert for 6 weeks (which is what you sign up for), they have made sure that everything else runs as smoothly as possible.
Anyone who is thinking about going to Libya to teach should make UTG the top of their list in my opinion. If you are thinking about it, feel free to ask any questions and I'll answer them as best I can. |

Hi Basil,
It's a 6/3 rotation with a half day free each week to recharge the old batteries a bit. |

The main guy's called Bob Garrioch, I met him in Tripoli Basil, nice guy. I have their details too.....probably the best contractor for teaching out here. I earn more as I'm direct hire but they pay about 30k, which is ok for Libya. I've seen their bids....they charge a hell of a lot too. |

thanks for that info . sounds ok but, for me personally , in my old age, rotation is key, money is a close second.

Basil,
They usually post on www.tefl.com when a position becomes available so it's worth keeping an eye on that website. |
