I know the rules have recently changed in Thailand for teaching...and they are now requiring you to undergo background checks.
Can you get a job teaching English and get a work visa in Thailand if you have a DUI (drunk driving) on your record?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! |
Sorry, but "it depends".
It depends on who the immigration officer is who is doing your "change of status" (tourist to "B") application if you are in Thailand.
It depends on the consular clerk doing your "B" visa application if you are abroad (it will be refused with any positive finding if you are applying from within North America).
Sometimes yes, sometimes no.
I know that is not the answer you were hoping for but like many things here, it is variable and subject to the whims of green tea light breezes.
Realistically, apply for a job and then you will know when you apply for your visa.
If you are applying from within Thailand the chances are more in your favor (assuming you have a minimum of a bachelors degree).
If you need 2 favors (no degree AND a DUI) then you're probably sunk.
