Hi,

I am thinking of doing some courses as the work situation for me at the moment is really quite bad and it doesn't seem to be picking up.

I have my CELTA but is there any courses that I can do after CELTA but before DELTA (don't fancy that much)?

I know IH do some courses (business English etc) are they worth doing? Anyone had experience with these?

Is there any kind of courses that review CELTA?

Mostly I teach business English and general English. I am not that into YL, although that would be an option.

Other than some "specialist" modules for young learners and business English there isn't much in between the CELTA and DELTA unless you want to prep for a PGCE or start a MATESOL (assuming you already have a BA in something).

There are LOTS of positions for those with a BA and CELTA all over the planet (and most of them pay reasonably well in the local economies). Where are you looking that things aren't so great for ESL that you can't move away from?

I have a BA and was thinking of a PGCE but the idea of going back to the UK...Yikes.

I am interested in doing courses purely for my own profesional development.

I'm working in Finland and really desperate to get out of here. So I am looking for anything in the EU / Europe. Been to Japan and don't fancy Asia again.

Problem is I am so broke that I can't just up and move. Ideally I was looking at Portugal and areas of Spain so I can surf Embarassed . But that's not happening. Looked at Switzerland but that seems near impossible unless you are based in the country.

There's always the old MA Linguistics or TESOL route. I plan on starting the DELTA distance program in March. I'm taking the Cert TESOL in Jan-Feb. The real goal is the DELTA with specializations in Online/Blended Learning as I have an MS Ed in Online Curriculum Design. I also want to do the module in Teacher Training as it is something I'm very interested in.

The main reason for my doing the Cert TESOL is I haven't been on the student side of a classroom in a LONG time and I also have a chance to visit Europe while I'm at it. But the DELTA is my main goal. I can't see doing another Masters Degree in my early 50's, but the DELTA I can see doing.
