I have seen a lot of ads that require a TEFL, or CELTA certificate. Is that absolutely required everywhere in China? I have a MA in TESOL and 12 years teaching experience. Do I really need those certificates? |

No.
In terms of specific TEFL qualifications, there's a hierarchy, and any item on this hierarchy makes everything before it obsolete:
1. Absolutely nothing
2. Online TEFL cert
3. Budget on-site TEFL cert
4. Cambridge CELTA or CELTYL/Trinity CTEFLA
5. Cambridge DELTA
6. MA TESOL
7. MA Applied Linguistics
8. PhD in any TEFL- or applied linguistics-related field |
