Hi. Has anyone living in Doha, or elsewhere in Qatar heard of Al Bulus Muhsin Health Care? They got in touch with me after seeing my resume on the Monster website and have offered me a job. They do have a website which looks authentic - but I have had no interview. They just sent me a questionnaire which I filled in and have now sent a copy of a contract and a confirmation letter. Is this normal procedure in Qatar? If anyone has some wee words of advice I would appreciate hearing from them. Thanks...

A job doing what? We would only know the normal procedure for English teaching jobs... and that would definitely not be standard procedure.

I don't see anything suspicious on their website.

I googled the name of the 'doctor' who had sent me the letter - Dr. Ibrahim Z L (MOD edit) and the name comes up connected to some scams and dodgy websites. I tried looking on this website to see if his name came up but couldn't find anything.

The hospital website looks ok...although I did find some spelling and grammatical mistakes.

(MOD edit for name)

Nothing came up when I googled the doctor's name - either using his middle initial or not.

Did you try just picking up the phone (or Skype) and calling them? That is what I would do...

VS, thanks for the input and interest. I do appreciate it.

They have not given me any phone numbers and even the 'contact us' page on their site has no numbers - only email addresses.

I'm surprised you didn't find his name on google. I got to a website called AA419 (artists against 419) which gives domain names that have been used by scammers/fraudsters and his name comes up there. So either it's a scam or there are two people with the same name and the genuine guy is lumbered with the bad rep.

Am probably going to skip this one anyway. I think any job offer should include an actual interview, either personal or on the phone. If I were an employer I would want to know what the potential employee sounds like before offering him/her a job!

Google just told me that they had nothing for his exact name... tried with and without the middle initial. But, it's not a perfect system.

Anyway, I think that you are making the right decision. The lack of an interview would be a prime factor for me... and the lack of a phone number on a website for a facility which would presumably be used by their clients would be the nail...

Could I suggest that instead of posting your CV/resume on a site that any scamster can see, you instead decide what countries you would like to work in, and undertake your own Google searches on that basis.

I have been working consistently in this field for over 14 years now, but I've never posted my details online once.

Spend some time, do your own research, and apply to schools directly.

Based on the website, I'd guess that our OP is not in education, but in some sort of medical field.

If you think it's a scam, it probably is. And you will mostly receive just spam/scams/poor job offers by posting your CV online. As a previous poster has advised, it's best to search out jobs yourself.

I think you can write off the good doctor as a legit employer. Laughing

Thank you everyone for your input and advice. You're right about putting my CV online...it's something I had done a long time ago before I even found out about sites like this one. Lesson learnt!! Smile
